Just a quick note on our panel presentation yesterday at the Minnesota Library Association annual conference in Bloomington. I was part of a panel along with librarians from Winona Public Library (Linda), Concordia College in Moorhead (Erika), and Ramsey County Public Library (Lynn). The session was titled "23 Things: Better Than a Deep Fried Twinkie." The session blurb reads: "Do you love all the delectable attractions on a stick in Minnesota? 23 Things on a Stick: A Library Learning 2.0 Program has introduced over 1,000 participants to fascinating Web 2.0 tools. In this session, participants from a variety of libraries will share how they use the Web 2.0 tools they found while exploring and experimenting with this online-learning experience. Learn how you too can enhance your library's services using these tools. Plus a sneak preview of the next On a Stick program! The 23 Things program is sponsored by Multitype Library System Directors."
It was a fun panel that I think allowed the folks attending a number of "take aways." Tim Spalding, founder and CEO of Library Thing gave a great talk as part of the opening lunch (hosted by MINITEX). I had a chance to talk with Tim after the lunch (he also came to our panel) and its probably a good bet that I'm going to take another look at Library Thing for my own library stuff. It was great to have a day out of the office, to connect with some colleagues from around the state, and learn some new stuff. A huge thanks to Ann and Patricia for making the panel (and the 23 Things party later) a possibility!
